Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

So this is a hole in the wall mexican place. I did not feel that the quality or quantity of food was adequate nor commensurate with the price. Places like Lime and Taco Rico are much better in taste and quantity and considerably cheaper. I probably will not return here.

The first time, I ordered for take out and my boyfriend got the ceviche and thought it was pretty nasty. I ordered nachos and they were basically tostitos with tiny containers of sour cream, rice and guacamole, and if I remember ,correctly, beans...but no cheese! :o also, we had ordered an extra side of guac and chips for my sister, whcih I was charged for but then realized they never gave it to me once I opened up the bag when we got home. Decided to give it a second chance, I ordered for delivery for myself and a friend. We ordered enchiladas which we shared, and were given the choice of regular salsa or a green one that was really spicy. Made sure to tell them that we wanted the regular salsa because we didn't like spicy food. So of course, when it was delivered to us, it was covered in the green spicy one. We couldn't even eat it. Never again!

Great for a date if you are on a budget, since the prices are so low and yet the quality of food surpasses most of the restaurants in the area in its own category. The owners are on site, most def a family biz, They seem excited about their new biz (3 months running) and very proud of their craft. The only con is: they close at 11pm .. they could be making a killing if they where open late. I shall return soon again with the same ravenous appetite as the last time . (6 tacos a burrito and 4 dos Equis) Cheers !

I went to lunch here with some friends. Service was really bad. Food was not good either. I had the lunch special. Portion was microscopic. It was a hassle getting refills on my soda. Will never go back.
(1)Hayley K.
Very good food, friendly waitress. We got chicken with peppers and onions in cilantro sauce and the torta with carnitas and both were yum!
(4)Chris M.
You know, maybe this place deserves a three-star rating, but I grew up in Los Angeles knowing what Mexican food is. Perhaps, I was a bit harsh with my rating. I went there for one of their lunch specials and for $5.95 I got a two steak tacos (AKA carne asada in LA), rice, and beans along with a soft drink. The chips and chili they gave me while I waited were the absolute worst I ever had at a Mexican restaurant. However, the tacos were alright and so was the beans and rice. The service was quick and courteous. There dinner meals were from $10 to $20. Not sure if I will come back.
(2)Lomée G.
I live just a few blocks from this place, and I never heard about it, with my boyfriend, we wanted to eat mexican food, and by searching on YELP, we found this little place! And I have to say that the food was really good, the place is cute! For two, we ate for $21!!! I'm happy I found this place!!! Thanks Mr Taco!!!!!!!!!!
(5)Andres B.
I used to be a big fan of this restaurant and now i am updating my old review. The prices have gone up tremendously and yet the quality of the food has dropped. The chips they serve for free as an appetizer felt old and the food was not worthy of the prices. Nothing memorable. Plain and simple - with no passion.
(2)Jonathan D.
Came here for happy hour, great 2 for 1 drinks prices. Margaritas don't have that much alcohol in them so I stuck with beer. Got the chimichanga...amazing! Their red salsa is way better than their green salsa. Will come back for more happy hour and tacos (although they weren't that cheap...I'm used to the cheap East Los Angeles tacos, but will do for Miami Beach).
(4)Barbara R.
My husband and I discovered these place because of a recommendation. We have been going there twice a week since we first tried and we are now recommending it to everybody. Lot of Mexican restaurants sprouted all over Miami in the past year and most of them are forgettable. Not Mr Taco: the food is fresh, they cook it in front of you, they even managed to improve the service. Ask for the tomatillo sauce and pour it everywhere! Great fajitas, perfect tacos and more, not to mention the guacamole. A real neighborhood gem! the affordable prices help too.
(5)Jor-El G.
Mmm, mmm, mmm!!!!! Wow. Cheap authentic DELICIOUS Mexican food. I had one of their meals that came with a chicken burrito, steak taco, refried beans, Mexican fried rice, and a tamale. It was all very tasty and portions are well worth the price. They also have fresh red and green salsa, both of which are pretty darn good. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I believe they are a family owned restaurant which is awesome. Their flavor is unique and if you're ever in mid beach you should definitely stop by.
(4)Ryan M.
Horrible food and service. My nachos where soaked in grease and no one at the restaurant spoke English. The person in charge at time replaced my food with something more expensive and charged me for it instead of giving me what I ordered. The food is bad overpriced and the add 15% tip on your bill for their bad service
(1)Andrej M.
They are a bit pricier than some of the other local taco places for what you get in the basket that is provided. Not the freshest chips and guacamole. This place is good if you are hungry and want a quick bite to eat, but do not expect to be floored by anything spectacular. Just another run of the mill taco shop that is good enough to change ones routine for every now and then.
(3)Yulissa M.
I think this is going to be my new #1 mexican spot! deeeelish! We ordered for lunch on Friday at work and this morning everyone wanted MORE! yum yum yum! Havent been to the actual location, I will say the delivery is fast, efficient and food taste super fresh and authentic. Thats why i love this place, very authentic! "Sope Al Pastor" is amazing! never had anything like it before. A corn tortilla topped with meat, cheese, beans, lettuce and tomatoes. Quesadillas are small personalized size made with corn torilla, LOADED with cheese and meat choice. Then theres a thing called a SINCRONIZADA thats more the typical tex mex quesadilla still deeelish too! menu doesnt have any descriptions so im determined to order from here atleast once a week until i try it all! a MUST try for Mexican Food Lovers! :)
(5)Jack W.
Mexican food in Miami Beach? No way! Yes way. While Mr. Taco doesn't have hideous Mexican crap all over the walls or a Mariachi band trying to hustle you for tips while you scarf down your dinner, the food itself is superb. They have quite a selection of traditional Mexican fare, with both usual and not so usual meats. My personal favorite, pastor, is served here, and I tried the lengua, which is very tasty. Don't ask if you're squeamish; just order and eat it. The guac is also sinfully tasty, as is the carne asada. Salsa can get pretty hot if you're feeling daring. For me, it was heaven-o. During my business trip to Miami Beach, I visited here 3 times. Food takes a little bit of time to come out, but that's because it doesn't hit the grill until the check rings up. Leave your Amex and Discover; this place takes cash, and Visa/MC for orders over $7. There are a handful of tables and chairs, and a flat screen TV on the wall that I assume would be on during sporting events. Or Mexican Idol. Bottom line: brilliant food at affordable prices. great place to grab a quick bite or get some take out. not quite the best destination for a date.
(5)Marissa P.
God answered one of my prayers and brought Mr. Taco to Miami Beach! Owners are from Chi-Town, but originally from D.F. Best Micheladas and Sopes in Town! Just like Mama makes it! Que sabroso! I highly recommend the sope de al pastor! I can't wait to go back! Don't forget to order a couple of Micheladas! Epa!! Viva Mexico!!!
(5)Jonah K.
After these great reviews, I had high expectations. I need to try more items, but the three I got none of them were standout. The prices are great!
(3)Candice L.
The food was not good. Keep in mind that I love Lime which has humanely raised meat and fresh produce daily so my standards for Mexican are high. I ordered delivery of two hard shell tacos with steak. I'm glad I asked what came on them because cheese did not?!!! And sour cream did?!!! I do not like sour cream on my tacos so opted out of that and had to pay almost $4 additional for cheese which comes on the side. The tacos did come in good condition and not falling apart. I asked for hot salsa and they did bring it. The staff and delivery were friendly. But all in all when I think of their food,,I am not at all appetized. I do not think I will ever have their food again. Would rather try somewhere else for Mexican delivery. Unfortunately,,it will not be Pepper's as they charge $8 for a delivery charge lol
(2)Luccas P.
Very nice place. The lady up front was super friendly, the food was good, and the price was right. I ordered the steak quesadilla ($2.75) and my wife ordered the super beef nachos (I think they were around $5). Their green salsa is amazing, and super hot. It's walking distance to us so we will definitely be going back. $7 minimum for credit card use.
(4)Andres A.
My soda was flat, the food was bland, and there were two small roaches having lunch with me on my table.
(2)Eileen P.
Gross. The nachos were drenched in cheese wiz and canned salsa. My food came out cold and soggy. None of the food was made to order. Stay away!
(1)Erik K.
Good relatively inexpensive Mexican food. And it's pretty much actual Mexican not tex-mex which is a good thing.
(4)erik n.
Poca comida - mucho dinero. Another one of those North Beach restaurants that can't figure out why nobody really eats there. Get a clue folks. The food was ok, the portions were microscopic and the atmosphere was less than ok. Cross the causeway for much better.
(1)k r.
Good basic Mexican food and not expensive. Tables outside we're a bit dirty but its a mom & pop joint.
(3)Teresa K.
The first time we came here our food was meh. The second time we came here we tried different dishes than before and were much happier with our selections. We had the beef super nachos and a taco salad with chicken. The salad was yummy and had fajita veggies on it along with the chicken. I will definitely try the fajitas next time I go. Also the prices were really good and it's practically across the street so I add one start for convenience.
(4)Wendy V.
Guacamole time!! Amazing!
(4)Kay K.
Very fresh, very flavorful...and GREAT PRICE! Ideal right before or after the beach...or for a happy hour night during the week.

Average strip mall mexican food/place

To that little Mexican Fairy that told me about this place.... THANK U Thank U Thank u :) We loved it. Its good, it's quick and it's not expensive!!!! But when I say it's good. I mean, it's really good. My dining partner had the steak burrito. I had a bite.. a big bite, and it was really really good. I started with the fish taco- HUGE.. fresh, and ... drum roll please... It was on a CORN tortilla. :) Yes CORN!! This is not Chipotle, not Paquitos.. this is for real. They had 2 different fresh salsas. I liked the green one. It gets better. They have Micheladas, but get this- they asked me if I wanted it with Clamato juice? I of course said YES. It was really good. I haven't had a beer like since I moved here from LA. There's more beaners there so they know what they are doing. Anyhooo.. we we still hungry and so we got a salad in a tostada basket, I forget the name and a steak sope. Both really good. This place has good mexican food. It's a small little hole in the wall, but aren't the best places like that? They deliver. So I will be eating Mr Taco quite often. I got a sangria to go... You know- those non-alcoholic ones that come in that green bottle. I waddled home.. happy.... Thanking my Yelp Mexican Fairy.
(5)Kathia D.
Thank you Yelp for another wonderful discovery. I just ordered delivery from Mr. Taco and it arrived promptly (25 minutes). I ordered a platter that had a quesadilla, a taco and a burrito. It also included a generous serving of refried beans and rice. We also ordered the guacamole and chips. The guacamole was super fresh and delicious. The food was awesome and I love that it delivered. There was a $4 delivery fee, hence the lack of the fifth star. All in all, I will be adding this to my list of local, yummy delivery spots! :)
(4)Adrian P.
Mexican tested, Mexican approved! Try the Horchata drink! All the food is authentic and delicious
(5)Eric M.
I'm from California and have been to Mexico many times. This, my friends, is not Mexican food. Maybe the worst enchiladas I've eaten. When in Miami, stick with Carribean islander food.
(1)Carlos G.
Good Mexican food with a great selection of sauces. Definitely a lunch place or extremely casual dinner.
(4)Gigi S.
This place is the real deal! Best guacamole on the beach. No attitude, nothing fancy, just really great genuine mexican food. I loved their taco lunch special for $5.99- two chicken (or beef) tacos, mexican rice, refried beans and a soda. They offer take-out and delivery and the owners are really sweet, humble people.

(5)Tina K.
I was craving the Taco truck Tacos that I used to get in LA so we stopped by this joint after a day on the beach and it was Yummi! 4 stars b/c of value cuz its pretty darn cheap and relative to other 'taco' joints in Miami, this one kills the others. But you have to order it with cilantro and onion not the tomato/lettuce/sour cream combo. I got to the marinated pork Al Pastor, the beef tongue, and the steak a presidente beer and ate it outside while people watching on Collins. Its a nice Sunday night quick bite!
(4)Iggy F.
Any place you can sit on Collin's Ave and have a Corona and some awesome inexpensive traditional Mexican food is good in my book. But thats just me.
(4)Yaxel C.
Just order skirt steak, rice, beans, enchilada, taco, for take out and all for $10 bucks. Really good food and outstanding service..
(5)Lisa G.
the burritos come with no rice inside.....enough said

Its only a four so far because its only been one visit there. Usually I wait at least two or more to really formulate my opinion, but I felt that a review on my first visit there was about a four. With the caveat that it may change on future visits there. Mr. Taco is a relatively newer addition to our little part of North Beach. I'm always on the hunt for good food for this little ol vegetarian lost in the sea of carnivorous latin based food in this neighborhood. I ordered a torta. Although its not on the menu as such, the folks behind the counter were very sweet and told me they would make anything vegetarian. The veggie tortas I've had in the past (in boston and nyc area) would have mushrooms, tofu, soy chorizo etc., Mr. Taco was able/willing to make it without the meat and put in rice, beans and guac. The bread was okay, tasted a bit better than a large hamburger bun. In a neighborhood of cuban, argentinean and other bakeries, I would hope for a little bit better bread. For $6 it was a pretty good size for that price. Overall the torta was okay. In other places, like NYC, california, boston, it probably wouldn't stand out. But for mexican food in Miami, it is better than the rest, giving it 3. Because the customer service was so phenomenal (the guy behind the counter actually shared personal stories about his daughter in law who is also a vegetarian) they get another .5 star. And for their willingness to accomodate this vegetarian they get a full 4 stars. I'll keep going back and trying more, and if it seems right, i'll see if it deserves more, or less if their customer service is not consistently good. But to let the other vegetarians in my neighborhood know now, this place is a definite alternative to subway!
(4)Sophia O.
This is a family owned business and its clearly the family who works there. The environment is cozy, and the service is quick. Best of all though, is the authentic Mexican food. The tacos are delicious, and you get a choice of some meats which aren't offered in mainstream Mexican restuarants like lingua, which is deeeelicious. Definitely give this place a try. Also, the price is right.
(5)Arlene M.
Stayed at Canyon Ranch a block away and found this place through yelp when looking for a casual place for lunch close by after spending the morning on the beach. Chicken, beef, and fish on the beach tacos were great and we even got a free one by checking in. The staff was also super friendly and the prices just right.
(5)kristen b.
Fresh ingredients! I love the carrots & jalapenos, so good! Also, your guacamole is excellent!
(4)JENNIFER R.
This is my go-to Mexican place. They deserve major kudos for being located on Collins and still keeping their prices down. My only complaint is that they are inconsistent with the taste. I guess it depends on which cook is working that day. It either tastes great or absolutely tasteless. After a particularly lame meal, I decided to switch to Rancho Grande down the street. Bad idea! That was no place for a casual diner like myself. The staff is always friendly and hustling to get my order out. However, if you're looking for a nice sit down dinner this is not the place. It's more of a relaxing come-in-your-bathing-suit joint.
(4)Sandra G.
The name kind if makes you feel like it's going to be a rinky dink taco kitchen but I was pleasantly surprised to find a quaint like restaurant. There's a cute little cactus garden near the front door. Food is presented nicely and served on modern dishes. The food was great. Only draw back was not having Margaritas with our meal since they only serve beer and wine. But, the sangria was excellent and 2 for 1 on happy hour.
(5)Natalie T.
The super nachos come plain and they give you the dipping sauces separately, which sucks, my shrimp quesadilla was pretty satisfying though! Fast delivery and they brought it up the elevator to my hotel room door which is great! I also ordered on Seamless which doesn't have a huge market in Miami.
(3)juanita s.
The worst! $114 for 2 tortas, 2 tacos and a flimsy shrimp dinner! Suxed! 4 shrimp for almost $20...uuumm no! It wasn't memorable either! Don't do it! One taco for $9...give me a break! Buyer beware! It's overpriced and the food isn't as good as it was a year ago! Don't go here, head to Sazon down the street! Oh yea, the Sangria was nasty, no liquor at all! We got robbed! The gaucomole was two tablespoon full for $3! This place is ridiculous! Service terrible too! Never again!
(1)Rima R.
Very good spot for lunch. We ordered from the lunch menu. Portions were big, really delicious and cheap. Great value for money. Service was quick and friendly. :)
(5)Stephanie B.
Tamales are perfectly cooked and every combo I've gotten has been full of flavor, and great to share. Great neighborhood joint.
(5)Maria B.
The experience was extraordinary!!!! The food was amazing... We try the Combo#3... Really authentic Mexican food! & the service was also pretty good!!!
(5)Joey C.
We stopped into Mr taco for lunch. Service was great. The meals are a little pricy for your run of the mill taco shop but it is Miami so everything's a little more. Guacamole was outstanding. Food was good!
(4)Kyle L.
Where to begin.. Placed an order for delivery, pretty straight forward, person on phone apparently did not speak English, even though they were speaking English... Ordered chicken fajitas with no mushrooms (let's be honest, have you ever seen a Mexican restaurant with mushrooms on anything? Much less every other option) and 3 sides. They made an executive decision to add the mushrooms anyways, and the sides were refried beans, chihuahua cheese, and guacamole. Cheese and beans, no problem, guacamole literally came as 3 slices of an avocado. Last I checked a little more goes into making guac than just slicing up an avocado. Also received an order of French fries and was charged for them. French fries were never mentioned during the phone convo. And to top it all off, the food was delivered cold and did not taste good at all. Eating at the restaurant could be a totally different experience, but ordering delivery... No bueno. This is the first time I've ever felt the need to write a review about anything, and I've been disappointed more than a few times in Miami, but this definitely takes the cake.
(1)Yogi Y.
Thought the price was way to high for Mexican food. Left after one good look at menu. I go to Mexican restaurants all over and found the menu here overpriced . Come back to this planet and remember the ingredients u work with. No mater how good your taco is your price won't let me digest it. Good choice next door
(2)Takia R.
Beware...no cheese on tacos and the beef is not seasoned. I will not be returning EVER!!!!
(1)Naty K.
Awesome place! I wish I could give it 4.5 stars! I was really impressed with their lunches. Big portions for about $7 each, with rice and beans? I am game. I recommend coming here for lunch, if you are going to come for dinner and pay dinner prices, you might as well go someplace more upscale. I loved their loaded chicken sandwich. The chicken was practically falling out of the sides, and my friend was also very pleased with his portion size. In addition, the food was tasty and well-seasoned. We were both full and didn't pay more than $20, including tip, between the 2 of us, also including sodas with unlimited refills. If I am looking for a no-frills Mexican place to hit on a lazy beach day, this will definitely be the spot. Yes, ideally, I'd like something closer to home in South Beach but since I am not impressed with Huahua's and want something better than a chain restaurant like Lime, while being cheaper than Rosa Mexicano, then this will be my afternoon lunch spot when craving Mexican. Plus you can't beat the parking, a huge lot on 72nd and Collins is within walking distance and is never full. You can always hit the North Shore beach to take in the sun and let your belly digest after your hefty meal.
(4)Kate P.
My fiancé and I love this place. The staff is very friendly and the food is very fresh! And cheap! It's one of our go to places ! Would recommend it to anyone. There's another Mexican place nearby and I would pick this place any day. Food is fresher and it's cheaper !
(4)Klara W.
Best Mexican food in Miami Beach, if not in all of Miami. Food is cooked right in front of you. Everything is fresh and well seasoned. It's a tiny little joint with a few tables outside, but it is cute and family oriented. I highly recommend this place! We go back at least once a week and try different t things on the menu. I haven't been disappointed yet. Portions are huge, so it might be a good idea to share.
(5)Marquis M.
I somehow have become a regular here which is a little embarrassing! But the food is good.. They recently changed the menu and it seems like the prices went up, though I'm not sure (the new menu was a little overwhelming). I didn't enjoy the fish taco, it tasted like tilapia and I feel like that is a kind of fish you should be forewarned of. Otherwise, the food is solid Mexican food, compared to a lot of the pseudo Mexican food in Miami. I really like the green salsa but the red salsa is not something I enjoyed. The guacamole is just perfect and full of all kinds of good bits. I definitely recommend it! The burritos are the best thing, in my opinion, though the enchiladas seem to be pretty good, as well. The service is pretty good and they are all so nice. Definitely a solid choice on the beach..
(4)Esmeralda G.
Amazing experience, was seated outside in the shade was very peaceful nice view. Had the shrimp cocktail and flautas with beans and elote and corona beer only 5$. The flautas were big comes with four, lots of guacamole and avocado. Loved the Mexican shrimp cocktail was delicious. They have complementary chips and salsa and a little salsa bar inside. Highly recommend and bathrooms are adorable.
(5)Ayla S.
Delivery was quick, but this was by far - the worst mexican food Ive ever had in my entire life.. I ordered a ground beef taco and the meat was so grizzly with fat linking the ground beef together. I've never seen anything like it, which makes me question whether or not it was actually ground beef. Even the chicken was fatty and so disgusting that my cat wouldn't even eat it.. I've ordered from them one other time and it wasn't this bad.. I guess they had an off night - but damn, the quality of food really hit rock bottom and the only benefit I gained from this experience was the horrible food helping me go to the bathroom.. Very bad experience.. Sorry Mr. Taco but I have to boycott you now.. Never again! Calling El Rancho Grande next time, since they never fail me..
(1)Julian V.
The decorations and staff were nice, but the food was "okay" at best. The mole on the enchilada was edible, but definitely the worst I've had. The burrito, on the other hand, was good, but far from a real Mexican burrito. I don't think I will be returning, at least not for the food. They do have a decent happy hour though.
(2)Andy T.
I came here again and it went downhill. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it came out soaked in the grease from the fryer. I literally cut it and all the oil and grease from the deep fryer flooded my plate. I was disgusted, paid for my food, and left.
(1)Emily P.
Best Mexican good in Miami Beach. Sorry Rancho Grande.... My husband and I came in solely for a mimosa and michelada, left feeling amazing- full, tipsy, and very happy! He rates it best Micheladas he's ever had, and while mimosas are mumoas, mine was a 2-for-1 and a perfect match to my desayuna a la mexicanas. He has breakfast too (divorcidados) and we now have a new neighborhood spot to go!
(5)Yenny S.
I actually really like this food, is not really expensive and they have a lot of options. We usually deliver but we have dined in the restaurant and the service is great. Our server made sure we were happy, added and took off items on dishes to adjust to our liking.
(4)Jerry S.
Very good traditional Mexican food place great service good food and a reasonable price
(4)Justin M.
I have to say. I wouldn't order from here again, the food was mediocre at best. The nachos were literally chips, salsa, chicken and fake nacho cheese in separate containers that we had to make and then heat up. The quesadilla was very small for $6.00 and the burrito was ok. Also, I'm pretty sure we got sent sour cream that was about to expire.
(2)Amy B.
We are Mexican food fanatics so when we tried this place for the first time we were impressed. Tasty food and pretty decent prices. The tacos were fully loaded with meat, glad to know they are stingy. The quesadilla was so good I wanted seconds.
(5)Gary R.
Great food, great prices for the beach. Having lived in both Colorado and California, this is the only menu that has any real Mexican street food in the area. Sopes are great, be adventuresome and try a lengua(beef tongue) taco or sope. Burritos and shrimp tacos are also recommended. Mr Taco is a solid neighborhood restaurant. Service is efficient and friendly.
(5)Sergio F.
I was in the North Beach area this afternoon for some beach photography, and was looking for something other than pasta and gourmet Southern which I enjoyed this weekend. Seeing that this place had good reviews from my good buddy Rob D as well as a comp taco with check-in from another social media site I figure "Why Not?" I will knock a star for the cafeteria style ordering, where I had to order then wait a bit for my food to be brought to me, however I guess that goes in line with decent prices ($11 for a nicely sized meal). The chips were pleasantly crispy and not greasy chips, with a generous helping of mildly spicy (not turn me into a fire-breathing dragon) salsa. They even brought another salsa bowl with my burrito. I liked the soft tortilla and the seasoning of the chicken on my comp taco, which had enough meat for being a freebie. Nice touch! As you can see in the pic, the burrito was packed with meat and rice, and I didn't have to go through the traumstic experience of finding guacamole in it since they're one of the few mex places that don't force it on you. Next time I will ask for extra cheese on the burrito though. I'm in North Beach enough that I can add this place to my repertoire.

We love Mr. Taco, it's a small neighborhood restaurant with a couple of outside tables. The service is fast and the waitstaff very friendly. The fish tacos are excellent and the homemade salsa verde is awesome. After trying this place a couple of years ago, we've become regulars ... It's the best Mexican in town.

I wanted tacos for my last night in Miami, just HAD TO HAVE SOME FREAKING TACOS. You know what I'm talking about. Since we'd just spent the day cooking ourselves at Indian Beach, Mr. Taco was just a short bus ride up Collins. We were the only diners and seated ourselves which may or may not have been the custom. Because I was so hungry for tacos, I ordered three of them: pastor, pork, and chicken. They're not like tacos elsewhere in the States and they don't even rank in my list of Top 10 Tacos EVER but they sated my taco craving. The pastor was my favorite of the three I tried. Two things that were slightly off-putting. First, I was surprised at their prices because they were listed as $. Our total for two people came to nearly $40. Having feasted on tacos for under $10, I wouldn't go expecting extremely cheap taqueria eats. Second, they wouldn' t honor our free taco check-in special. Something about only applying to beef tacos which I suspect our waiter made up on the fly since that was the only type of taco we didn't order. Not cool, Mr. Taco.

Amazing fish tacos! We ordered the shrimp quesadilla too, just because we wanted to try it. All of the food was fantastic and the service couldn't have been better !

Sweet waitress. Wonderful salsa- mix of sweet and spicy. Nice and casual atmosphere, would definitely visit again! Got the chicken burrito lunch special which was $8

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! Not only did it take forever and not only was my order wrong, but I also received a MOLDY cheesecake. I'm sure they don't make the cheesecake themselves but if they're willing to deliver something blatantly old and moldy (the mold was a green fuzzed circle on the very top of the white cheesecake), then god knows how old the rest if their ingredients are.

Came here twice- glad I was only in Miami temporarily so I won't have to eat here again. The good: The chimichangas are huge and packed full of deliciousness. You will not be able to finish it in one setting. My friend agreed that the steak was better than the chorizo. Also, if you aren't very hungry, skip this dish b/c you will feel very bad wasting food when you can't finish. The meh: I got their loaded nachos with steak. They were tasty at the beginning but the chips got soggy really fast because they use nacho cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese. Big no no having soggy chips. Also, service is meh. The second time I came our plates stayed on our table at least 10 minutes after we had finished. They don't come back to check on you at all and you're lucky to get a drink refill at all. The bad: Honestly the worst margarita I've had in my 25 years of being on this planet. What the eff. The whole thing was salty and I gave up trying to finish it. I never not finish drinks. It tasted of margarita mix and salt. Highly disappointing.

Yes, there is no rice in the burritos. Yes, it might be a $$ place instead of a $ place. However, with that said the pork burrito I had half of was great as well as the half al pastor chimichanga. The steak super nachos were a little to sparse -- just steak on chips? Yes, they do need something, anything else, but still -- if you do not rank Mr. Taco on what you long for from somewhere else and just take it as a stand alone I am a fan. Delivery is a huge plus and things get packed well -- but more importantly labeled even better. Their menu needs a little better arrangement for the sides and extras but if you take your time everything seems to come together for ordering.

I really like this place! The Mr. and I have walked past many times and it looks like a hole in the wall from the street. However, once you go inside, it's a festive and CLEAN narrow room! Very pleasant! We had breakfast - I had the Mexican omelette and the Mr. had the tamal encuerado. The guy at the counter brought us chips and salsa, and the food came with a side of corn tortillas. As some other commenters mentioned, the portion sizes aren't huge, but the sides, which are included, more than make up for that. In addition, there is a salsa fixin's bar! I love to sample different salsas and hot sauces. Guy behind the counter was friendly and the price was right - $15 for 2 meals and a bottomless cup of soda. I will definitely be back!

They should change the "Mr." to "disgusting" so the sign reads "Disgusting Taco" I am a local and was very disappointed. This place is WAY overpriced and the food was not good. There is NOTHING authentic Mexican about this place. I think tourist give this dive decent ratings, but if you've ever had Taco Bell, then you've eaten better tasting Mexican food. 1. The chips were stale 2. The enchilada was not melted or even warm, just meat and completely cold cheese inside and on top 3. Torta sandwich was dry, cheese was not melted (again) and it completely lacked any flavor 4. As a local, I understand Miami service is slow, but this place was empty on a Tuesday night and they were still very slow with everything. 5. I wish I would've believed the bad reviews and stayed away

Asked the man if they were the best al pastor tacos in the world ($4.13/pc) and he said yes. Average tacos at best. I asked for extra spicy and there was no hear. Silver lining? The rice and beans were great. Go road trip to Dallas TX to Fuel City and get real tacos...

Great service, great food and great sangria!!! Must get the torta. Hubsand raved about it! Lunch is cheap for the quality you get... dinner is price-er but worth every penny! Will be back...

Very tasty chicken burrito lunch deal for about $8 bucks. Sweet waitress and very friendly service. Their homemade salsa is superb! They give you a mix of sweet and spicy. Would definitely support again.

The reviews on here have to be false! If I could give this place no stars i would!!! stay away stay very far away from this disgusting place!! I ordered delivery got the two tacos and tres leches. The tacos were soggy! and the tres leches was rancid and obviously waaaay past its expiration date! I almost threw up right after i took one bite!! it made me wonder how fresh their meat and other ingredients were after that......... well I found out later when i was sick and had a bad case of Montezumas revenge!. So unless you want to be on the toilet all night from eating god knows what quality of food then go there otherwise stick to lime or some other good Mexican restaurant on the beach JUST NOT THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

Delicious food. Amazing service. My fiancée and I went here night after night because we loved the food so much. The grilled veggie salad is excellent and I highly recommend trying all their sauces.

My co-workers and I were looking for a new place to order from on the beach and came across Mr Taco. I was surprised to see that their website was very well designed and that their menu was very well put together. I ended up ordering the "Mexican Cheeseburger" with jalapenos, sour cream, and guacamole, while everyone else ordered the lunch specials (tacos, burritos, etc). It took approximately an hour for the food to get to our office and we promptly recognized that something was wrong. I was missing my fries and my co-worker didn't have a soda. Not a very good first impression, to say the least. Putting aside our disappointment and mumbling under our breaths, we dug into our meals. My cheeseburger was pretty good, albeit a bit "well-done" despite my request for medium-well. The problem is that I'm a sucker for fries and I didn't have any to go with my meal. As for my co-workers, their general response to their meals was "It's nothing special". Overall, if you're looking for something to eat, Mr Taco is simply "ok". I'm not sure how often they mess up orders, but my first impression wasn't very good. I'll probably try them again in the near future to see how they are in person.

Great place! Love the staff's warmth and food! Take out on saturday night, first time there (even if my husband gets his al pastor with extra meat burrito every week and keep telling me how good it is). Ordered 2 quesadillas: chicken and al pastor. The quesadillas are made with small corn tortillas so you have to order a couple to have enough. If you want a real big quesadilla with a big flour tortilla you have to get the sincronizada. The food is very good, lots of meat and cheese. Prices are good too ($3-3.25 for small quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, sopes, $6-7 for sincronizadas, burritos, torta, supernachos) Choices of meat are beef, chicken, steak, al pastor, lengua, pork, chorizo. Four stars because the tortillas are not homemade, they are industrial tortillas but it's $3 after all. I will definitely go back for some take out. You can eat there but I prefer the take out option.

This place if for fans of real, delicious Mexican food without the bells and whistles of a fancy restaurant. Great happy hour too. Try their guacamole. It is fantastic, and they have a salsa bar which makes me extra happy! They had a sign on all the tables advertising their happy hour which I will certainly be back for. Bottom line, good food. Good prices. AND they deliver!

Mr. Taco is our go-to. The best days off go like this: wake up late, enjoy the beach, have a late lunch/dinner at Mr. Taco. The best time to go is during happy hour. Chill out with a margarita or a bucket of beers. The place is honest and pretty authentic. It doesn't try to be fancy, like the place around the corner that gives you one dish on 4 plates to make a show. You order and pay at the counter, but still enjoy table service from really sweet servers. They start you out with awesome pickled carrots and peppers, salsa roja and chips. I recommend the al pastor anything. My boyfriend usually goes for the torta milanesa. They also deliver, but I think that it's worth dining in.

The fajitas were great! The burrito was really delicious and big. This place is really friendly and nice and the food is fresh. The salsas are not TX salsas but you can have them add jalapenos. The pastor tacos in corn are good but don't dress them with lettuce and tomato - that's blasphemy. I would come back here - it's one of the best we have found in FL. Best to not compare when coming here - you will be less disappointed. It is hard coming from TX but we are still hopeful.

4.5 stars for what it is: cheap, relatively quick tex-mex. We discovered this gem while staying up the street at Canyon Ranch. We ended up eating here twice. (Yes, I realize the irony of undoing all our kale juice and yoga classes with tacos and cerveza). The first time we came, we'd arrived on a late flight and the owner stayed open even though he was closing so we could eat. Suffice it to say we do NOT get service like that at home. I had a combo platter which was A TON of food for the price (more on that later). The ground beef was nicely seasoned and the veggie toppings seemed fresh. We also enjoyed the guacamole and chips/salsa (green salsa has some heat-- head's up). They also serve breakfast all day which automatically brings a place up a notch in my book. I liked this place so much that I was confused when I saw the Haterade on Yelp. Perhaps we are used to the sticker shock in Washington, DC, but I don't understand the comments that this place is overpriced. It's about the going rate for divey mexican in the (202). My platter had three items (a taco, a tostada and an enchilada) with rice and beans-- it was about $12 and was more than enough for two meals even though I was *starving*. I also don't understand the complaints about soggy delivery tacos. It's a taco. In Miami. Delivered in a steam-recycling take out container. It's called physics or something. If we visit Canyon Ranch or N. Miami Beach again, I think we'll drop back in our new friends at Mr. Taco.

Why is this restaurant listed with only one $? This is a $$ restaurant. Went to Mr. Taco the other day. Had the build your own combo with 3 tacos, rice and beans and a beer and it was $18.00. I mean I know it's Miami Beach, but bit too pricy for tacos. La Taqueria Mexicna that would've cost me $10-11. That being said, the tacos are a little bigger than a lot of traditional taquerias (not enough to justify the $3+ price tag per taco however). I had the pork, al pastor, and lengua tacos. The lengua was the tastiest, but the others were solid. The service was good, and the staff friendly. The food came out quickly. It's an OK option if you are in the area, but man that price tag scares me off.
